A Year In Review & 2024

This past year has been huge for Revit Template as a business. 2023 was the first full year I was able to put all my attention towards developing quality products without needing to work part time. I have been an architectural designer/Revit user for over 10 years now. As many of you know, setting up quality production tools between projects, nights or weekends is not easy. It is a constant struggle splitting your attention over long periods of time and realizing you dropped the ball on one thing or another. I am so glad that I get to do this and share my experience with all of you.

Having worked in the AEC industry for 10 years I know firsthand how frustrating it is to have sub-par tools at my disposal, not enough time to improve workflows, and managers not understanding where things currently are and how much better it can be for everyone involved. If anything, this website started purely out of anger, because I was so mad at the current state of Revit standards at most firms. I knew I could make it better and easier for anyone who does not have the resources to dedicate towards better standards.

I am so glad I have helped so many Revit users with their job and I only want to continue to deliver more quality products to help with designing and producing projects.

In 2023 we released:

  • New Ultimate Revit Template - Our most popular product that allows users to truly take advantage of Revit’s automations for code analysis, documentation, and model/standards management.

  • Two feature updates to the Ultimate Revit Template - Adding to our existing foundation and expanding features from user suggestions.

  • New Pro & Basics ADA diagram collection - Showcasing the most comprehensive ADA Revit diagram collection available on the internet.

  • Updates to the Pro & Basics ADA diagram collection - We expanded the collection to include A117.1 and ADA 2010.

  • Updates to our Pro Hatch Pattern Collection - Expanding our already massive pattern collection.

  • New Revit Materials Collection - The biggest Revit materials collection you can find already set up.

  • New Ultimate Door Collection - Vast improvement from our previous door collection allowing users to truly create unique door configurations and have access to more powerful workflows for BIM data.

  • New Ultimate Casework Collection - This new collection allows users to completely dictate how accurate or broadly they want their casework to be detailed. Completely freeing users from needing to even touch the family editor for custom casework.

Products & Updates for 2024

I have a lengthy list of products that I plan to develop. Below is a short list of what I plan to work on and release this next year, but this list will adjust as feedback comes in.

  • New Ultimate Window Collection - This new collection will be more modular like our door and casework collection allowing users to be more flexible with opening types.

  • New Detail Item Collection - We want to create a properly rounded collection with efficient workflows for graphics, layouts, and documentation.

  • Ultimate & Premium Revit Template V2.0 - I have a long feature list along with new modeling/management methods I started as soon as I completed V1.0 and I am excited to share everything to come.

  • Ultimate Door Collection V2.0 - Additions to workflows, expanding door opening types, and nested components.

  • Ultimate Casework Collection V2.0 - We just released our collection, but we already have a long list of future features I am excited to share.

  • Metric families of our existing collections - We have lots of customers asking for more metric families from around the world. I desperately want to meet those demands! I have some new tools at my disposal that will help meet demands without compromising standards.

Product Restructuring for 2024

Our goal has always been to make the sucky part of modeling suck-less by providing the best possible products. Products where customers know they are getting tools to meet their current and future needs. To safeguard that goal for years to come, we are restructuring how new products are released. This will ensure sustainable growth to allow us to reinvest continued development of existing and new products.

Customers will continue to purchase collections in bundles or a-la-carte. We believe you should only get what you need. Moving forward, all collections will be released as purchasable versions. Similar to iPhones, where an updated version is released every year, we will also release new products and updated versions of existing products incorporating constant customer feedback for new families and features.

The difference, instead of a standard subscription model, where you have to pay every year to keep using the product, if you find our newest version features do not meet your needs you can continue to use your existing products perpetually at no additional cost! Ultimately, we will still release intermediate version fixes and expansion updates, 1.2, 1.3.1, etc., at no additional cost. Only once an updated version 2.0, 3.0, etc. is released will users need to upgrade. Existing customers will also be rewarded with upgrade discounts once the next version is released.

The last update is to our bundle package. We will have two types moving forward, letting customers decide how they want to save.

  • Ultimate Annual Bundle Upgrade - Set at a flat payment and gives unlimited access to all version updates and new product releases for one calendar year at a discounted rate.

  • Ultimate Family Bundle - Users will access all current collection versions included in the bundle at a discounted rate.

Everyone will still have the option to purchase individual collections and version updates as they are released at the standard rate.

BIM Support Service

Customers already get free access to support for our products. This year we are committing to extending wholistic support for Revit itself! No matter how long you worked in Revit there are always situations where you could use an expert instead of spending hours scrolling through forums only to throw your hands up. Leverage our experience so you and your staff receive guaranteed expert answers when you need them. We are offering three options for support.

Non-Critical Revit Technical Support

This is designed for users who are proactive, patient, do not wait until the last minute, and only need occasional support. The reason this is called “non-critical” means you will typically get answers outside of typical office hours, but sometimes during. This is because we likely are busy during business hours with other customers. This is an email communication only service using text, images, and video directions. This service provides direction but does not include us opening a model and resolving issues for you.

This service is $700/year/user and allows unlimited email questions during that time.

General Revit Technical Support

For users who have general to in-depth questions and need expert answers during typical business hours. This is an email communication service providing directions through text, images, and video. Video meetings are available but on an as needed basis. This service provides direction but does not include us opening a model and resolving issues for you.

This service is $3000/year/user or $300/month/user and provides unlimited questions and video meetings (as available) during that time.

BIM Manager Support

This is a comprehensive integration service for customers who need an expert to actively support their firm with development, documenting, and validating SOP’s along with providing project QAQC and staff education. This service provides direction and includes us personally resolving technical issues when necessary.

This service is a monthly rate and dependent on the level of needed support. This tier provides unlimited questions and meetings (as available) during the contract period.

Product Roadmap

To provide greater transparency and foster community collaboration on in-development and future products, we plan to set up a live roadmap on the website in 2024. This will enable customers to review and contribute features on all products moving forward. I have not worked out all the kinks for how users will access that, but it will likely be some sort of embedded public Notion page.

We are also sending out a survey to all customers to get a better idea about who our customers are and what you need moving forward. The survey will also include a gift card drawing! Keep an eye out for that in your email!

Ultimately, we are excited for what comes next, and we hope you are just as excited as we are 2024!
